Western Views Painting, by Janice Mather, is being used as a stage backdrop at Webber Academys beautiful theatre.
I was thrilled to provide access to my painting, Western Views for use as the new backdrop for Stampede City Sessions.
The painting was enlarged by Run Digital Inc. into a 14' X 36 ' back wall mural - super excited for it's unveiling at the kick-off of Season 7 this Sat with 2 very special live concert tapings . There will be performances on Saturday with Lindsay Ell for her Calgary Fan Party and live performance/broadcast taping and her meet and greet following the concert in the theatre lobby. 1 pm Johnson Crook takes the stage for a live performance and broadcast taping of Stampede City Sessions.

We have quite a few new King Eddy pieces available in the National Music Centers gift shop in the Rosso Coffee location there. These pieces are based on images taken by Marcus back in 2012, while the place was derelict and waiting for the new renovations to take place. This is a collaborative series by both Janice and Marcus.

Calgary's Stampede Parade is an exciting send off for 10 days where the city takes on a party atmosphere. Office buildings and storefronts are painted in cowboy themes, jeans and cowboy hats are the uniform of choice, events held across the city include hundreds of pancake breakfasts, huge music festivals, square dancing and general camaraderie.
Janice, being a native Calgarian, is thrilled to be a part of the festivities.

The Mahogany Homeowners Association put on a great Art Festival last weekend. .. with wine and food testing, 20 local artists displaying their artwork, lot of fun and great work by the team at the community. Janice's work Stephen Avenue, Summers Coming was chosen amongst three pieces as the favorite of the attendees !

Motion Gallery is a not for profit artist supported gallery in downtown Calgary, selling selected original artworks by local artists. As native Calgarians, we have a common love for the places, the people and the stories that make up the essence of where we live. The King Eddy is all these things, the makings of a legend! Great times, famous people, good bands and crazy times! Somewhere to go on a Sunday afternoon for the blues and a beer. A place where the old timers had their own seat, where our own mayor was a regular. We were all saddened and nostalgic when the news was, “The King Eddy is going down”. Marcus rushed over with his camera one day in July of 2010 and captured what he felt was the feel of the place. The graffiti, the grittiness, the memories of the people who came and went through its doors. Yet, the iconic building was saved. That story too is just a confirmation of its importance in our city. Thanks to big dreams, hard work and commitment, the King Eddy stands today, as a part of the Studio Bell / Home of the National Music Center. A place for future generations to make their own memories at. As the first campaign to actually save the building heralded; “Long live the music! “ When the National Music Center was unveiled, we were inspired to create a series of art pieces, “The King Eddy Series “. Marcus incorporated what he felt was the spirit and energy of the place with his photographs . Janice then embellished each piece chosen to be a part of the series with her own vivid and innovative touch. Using paints, hand applied high gloss finishes and collage items, each piece is unique and original. We also included in the series several “pure” photos by Marcus Zee that show the building exactly as it existed in 2010. They are framed in hand finished up cycled frames. All work comes with a Certificate of Authenticity...

I am so honoured to have been chosen this year to represent my city series at the Calgary Stampedes Western Art Gallery. To be juried into this event is thrilling. This is artwork that I love to do and I feel is a style that I have come to through many years of evolving and discovering what I do best! Then, to win the award for one of the pieces in the series, YYC LOVE, to have the work that one creates acknowledged and loved by others is beyond perfect. Needless to say, I was incredibly happy! I also was given an incredible Stampede Belt Buckle that I will always cherish.

Mission: Jazz up the lobby of a landmark apartment building in downtown Vancouver

When consulted by apartment owners of a classic mid century modern apartment building, right on Beach Walk in Vancouver, of course, I jumped at the chance! Based on building designs in Chicago at the time, this round cement building was forward thinking and inspired. I wanted to continue that value and thinking. The result was six extremely modern oversized pieces of artwork. They are meant to bring a positive energy to an organic space. Their creation was influenced by the time period of the original build, 1968, and the colors and design reflect that but were not slaves to it. This three month project was very fulfilling for me. I am thrilled that the owner and the tenants love the space now more than ever.

We have had so much fun with this piece. It has been done by so many groups and each piece has turned out so incredible. We are proud that we can offer a painting that everyone can do so well, with such good results! We have done this piece with everyone from "youngsters" at Cowyboys Casino, Elite55 Club events to seniors in memory care, all inspiring and all unique. LOVE what we do :)

We are excited to be part of the fun with the great group of ladies who meet every Monday morning. While we sit and have a pedicure, be involved in a yoga class, learn some new cooking techniques or just visit and have a coffee and a snack we are also going to offer our services and teach a paint class! On November 14th we will lead a group of ladies in helping them create one of our artist designed pieces. Cannot wait!!!

We had the most lovely day with our seniors at Maison Senior Living. Starting with our pre-designed canvas pieces they just went crazy! The interesting thing is always how unique each piece turn out! We want to thank everyone for sharing such a great afternoon with us.

This piece was created especially for Christmas and is a rare joint work by two local artists. Comic artist Dawn McTeigue who does incredible pin-up girls created the pencil for the girl. Janice Mather takes this outline and adds colors,background, theme and details to the piece. It is being offered as a limited edition piece with there will only be 25 prints available. Each piece will be numbered and signed by the artists. Each will be printed on Heavyweight artist grade paper.These beautiful pieces of artwork are 16x20" and available until December 21 2015.
